This presentation explores the processes and praxis of embedding live engagement projects in the undergraduate Graphic Design curriculum. It focuses on one large case study from 2022. Working with the Illegal Money Lending Team UK (IMLT), and other associated agencies, the academic team challenged the HE6 students to design an advertising campaign to make the target market aware of the potential risks of lending money from an illegal provider. This multi-cultural, multi-agency project offered significant potential for social impact across all financial demographics. Students learnt the dangers of illegal money lending through their education in graphic design. They explored how to visually target specific groups of people and the importance of translating those visual responses across a broader demographic. The client worked closely with young designers forging creative relationships which may continue beyond the modular undergraduate scope. They offered one to one student feedback some of which agreed with tutor comments and some of which conflicted. The outcomes of the project will be presented at a two-week long public exhibition, the best of which will be put into practice by the IMLT. The success of the project is measured via the following criteria: Student satisfaction, Student feedback, Mean Module Mark also Partner Agency Feedback. And in the longer term Public Feedback via voting system
Engagement with the touch points i.e. web / social media etc. Reporting and conviction stats.
