I have spent over Twenty years exploring social activism in the classroom through project-based learning. This presentation will talk about how students have changed over that time, why it is still essential to ask them to continue to see the world outside of themselves, and how they might seek to change it for the better.
Professor Nelson has experience in print, identity systems, font creation, and book design. Her work can be found in the pages of the internationally recognized design magazine Émigré, and she has spoken at national conferences on social activism and typography. Professor Nelson’s scholarly work relates directly to the experiences she creates within the classroom.
