This research, which aims to understand the spatial change of the historical İstanbul Bosphorus village of Kuzguncuk from past to present, by using measurement methods developed for human perception of space, aims to make sense of the relationship between pedestrian experience and space, which determines the character and design of Kuzguncuk. This research focuses on understanding how physical and social changes in a given geographic area evolve over time, and how these changes affect people’s experiences in that area. Lefebvre, distinguishes space into perceived (mental space), experienced (social space) and designed (physical space), he says that they form an inseparable whole with their direct effects on each other (Lefebvre, 1991). Therefore, the effects of the changes in Kuzguncuk’s physical and social life on each other and the detection of the new spatial images created in the minds of the people who witnessed the change before and after contribute to the critical reading of the space. The term “Time-Space Geography” refers to a perspective that aims to address spatial changes together with their evolution over time. Kuzguncuk Neighborhood was chosen is the fact that it is one of the historical bosphorus districts of Istanbul and has undergone significant spatial changes over time. Factors such as the preservation of the historical texture in the neighborhood, the addition of new construction, infrastructure works, and changes in the population structure, gentrification can significantly affect the daily lives and pedestrian experiences of the residents of the neighborhood. Examining the traces of this spatial change in the living environment with the mind (mental) mapping method and has enriched this research.
