Cafés serve as an important conduit for urban culture and legacy, fostering social interaction and cultural transmission in addition to preserving the city’s historical memories and customs. The historic Cafés in Lisbon, Portugal’s capital, are the subject of this study. These cafés serve as both recorders of the everyday lives of the locals and witnesses to the historical changes in the city. A significant portion of Lisbon’s living cultural heritage is made up of the historic architectural style they maintain and the cross-cultural exchange fostered by art exhibits and cultural events. In order to thoroughly examine the cultural paths of coffee shops with a lengthy history from a variety of perspectives, including culture, history, and social life, this article employs research techniques like qualitative research, case analysis, and interdisciplinary analysis. It looks at the important roles that coffee shops play in Lisbon’s cultural legacy, the connection between the growth of tourist destinations and the coffee business, and how coffee tourism contributes to cultural transformation. This study suggests a new cultural heritage protection strategy focused on cafés as a solution to the symbiotic issue between tourism development and cultural heritage protection in cities. This strategy strengthens the systematic understanding and strategic use of urban cultural capital, offers a fresh research perspective, and offers a workable path for cultural inheritance and tourism development in Lisbon and other cities.
