After the break of corona pandemic, music performances were silenced. This silence was broken by a number of virtual festivals from the National Opera, eventually followed by other online performances. This paper discusses the changes in space and time of performances that the pandemic brought up to nowadays along with the use of new spaces in the city of Athens. It deconstructs the transformation of spaces of performances to virtual and vice versa, highlighting the the evolution and changes in various music genres promotion.
Dr Sirakouli holds a degree and integrated master from the Department of Music Studies (NKUA). She earned her PhD in music and festivals at the Lab for Ethnomusicology and Cultural Anthropology (NKUA). She held postdoctoral and teaching posts researching cultural performances and space while teaching music mapping and networks. She has a strong working background on digital culture and applied ethnomusicology along with numerous cooperations with public and private organizations, foundations, NGos, associations and institutes. Currently working on applied anthropology, technology and business.
