During the 18th century, during the Qing Dynasty, many exchanges occurred between China and Western countries. At that time, Emperor Qianlong (1711-1799) was very interested in the gardens of Versailles (1632-1662). He commissioned the Jesuit priests, Giuseppe Castiglione (1688-1766, Italian) and Michel Benoist (1715-1774, French) to built the Garden of Eternal Spring (Changchunyuan, 1747-1759), in the Old Summer Palace (Yuanmingyua,1709), where the emperor worked and lived. In The Eternal Springtime Garden were built the European palaces (Xiyanglou), a set of stone pavilions. Unfortunately, these buildings were plundered and burned during the Second Opium War in 1860. Although they are now incomplete, they can also show their original beauty. The construction of this garden is closely connected with diplomacy, politics and culture. Trade with other countries improved national development; therefore, the Qing Dynasty was the fastest and most modern period of development of ancient China. This work focuses on the study of the Garden of Eternal Spring, in the city of Beijing, analysing it from historical and cultural aspects, trying to identify its architectural elements of Baroque influence. Although the garden is now damaged, this study will use software to restore certain basic pictures for research purposes. The objective of this paper is to spread the knowledge of these architectures, which have practically disappeared.
