Developments in communication technologies brought about at the end of the 20th century with the widespread use of computers have defined various transformations, one of which is the change in the formation, modification, and transfer of data. Digitalization of data, as well as reading and defining it, has reformed the way researchers have been dealing with data and knowledge for centuries that have remained essentially consistent. Altering the ways of gathering, reading, structuring, and collecting methods and tools, the digitalization of data defines a new research ground to transform the field of history and urban research. Making use of the current computational and digital methods and tools, digital heritage offers a new approach by expanding the preview of the research to include various types and amounts of data. Taking the advantage of altered ways of knowledge creation, the proposed paper will discuss a research process that aimed to design a digital urban database through the digitization and visualization of urban data. Focusing on two specific sites in Ankara (Turkey) including important educational campuses, it was intended to overlap a wide range of urban data about these sites from different periods and define a collective archive of the area that is believed to have different impacts on the experience of the city. It is aimed that the digital database which includes various data formats will act as an argumentative ground for future research on how education campuses affect and transform the urban fabric and initiate different land-use patterns. The database, as a continuously developing archival network that has access to various inputs from diverse resources, is believed to initiate a re-reading of the city and a series of novel tangible/intangible experiences in the light of cultural, historical & social accounts and records.
