Biography

Professor Leanne Aitken, Vice-President for Research, City – Professor Leanne Aitken is a critical care nurse (Australia) who joined City, University of London as a Professor of Critical Care in 2013 in a part-time role and has been full time since April 2016. She is currently the Vice-President, Research (interim 12 month appointment) after spending 4 years as the Associate Dean, Research, Enterprise & Global Engagement in the School of Health & Psychological Sciences. Professor Aitken concurrently holds visiting professorial appointments at Queen Mary University of London, UK, the University of Melbourne, Australia and the Universidad Del Salvador, Argentina.

Robert Lastman, Continuing Education Administrator – Robert has an MA degree in Sociology from University of Central Missouri in the US and an MA in International Studies from University of Leeds. In the Research and Enterprise office he is part of the continuing education team that offers short courses in computing, business, writing, creative industries and languages.

Dr. Graham Cairns is an academic and author in the field of architecture who has written extensively on film, advertising and political communication. He has held Visiting Professor positions at universities in Spain, the UK, Mexico, the Gambia, South Africa and the US. He has led academic departments in the UK and the US. He has worked in architectural studios in London and Hong Kong and previously founded and ran a performing arts organisation, Hybrid Artworks, specialised in video installation and performance writing. He is author and editor of multiple books and articles on architecture as both a form of visual culture and a socio-political construct. He is currently director of the academic research organisation AMPS (Architecture, Media, Politics, Society), and Executive Editor of its associated journal Architecture_MPS.
