Cross-cultural teaching strategies and approaches are crucial for teaching literature to students in a different cultural context. It requires sensitivity to cultural differences and encompass research, theories, frameworks, and practical guidance for educators who work with students from different cultural backgrounds. This paper examines the effective teaching practices that I have had in teaching classical Chinese literature at Davidson College in North Carolina, USA.
Dr. Huai Bao received his Ph.D. in the Department of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies at Simon Fraser University in Canada and conducted postdoctoral research at University of Toronto. He has taught at Syracuse University in New York, State University of New York at Buffalo, and University of California at Santa Barbara. He is currently teaching at Davidson College in North Carolina, USA. Dr. Bao has published over 20 journal articles and three books, including the monograph, Cross-Gender China, published by Routledge (London, New York and Oxfordshire) in 2017.
