Antiochia, the central district of Hatay Province and today known as Antakya, is an ancient city dating back to BC. The Committee for the Excavation of Antiochia and Its Vicinity conducted an extensive programme of archaeological excavations between 1931 and 1939. The results of these excavations, and publications, we learned that the location of our study area has been determined to be at a significant crossroads in the insula pattern of the ancient Roman city of Anthiochia. The objective of the present research and study is to highlight, exhibit and elucidate all the historical layers dating back to the Hellenistic period, following a comprehensive conservation phase that was limited to parcel 4642. Following the conclusion of the archaeological excavations in 2011, the present study was initiated, which was scheduled to continue until 2019. After a detailed survey the studies indicated that the architectural remains were distributed over two main levels beneath the city’s surface. Subsequent to the documentation phase, conservation decisions were developed. A conservation workshop which was characterised by optimal environmental conditions, including adequate humidity and ventilation, was established. The conservation process was concluded in 2019 with the implementation of the aforementioned decisions. The present study employs a multidisciplinary approach, engaging diverse stakeholders in the process. The experience has been both enriching and educational, contributing to the collective effort to preserve and present the region’s historical heritage.
