In the evolving field of architecture and design education, the integration of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles is critical to nurturing environments where all students feel they belong. “Teaching for Belonging: Design Education to Build Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” explores innovative pedagogical strategies that embed DEI into the core of architectural and design curricula. This paper advocates for teaching methods that not only embrace critical thinking and creative teaching but also foster an inclusive culture that values and respects diverse perspectives. By interweaving DEI principles with design education, educators can empower students to develop solutions that are culturally sensitive and socially inclusive. The research includes case studies where such integrative approaches have transformed student outcomes, enhancing engagement and innovation. This study aims to inspire educators to craft educational experiences that promote a deep sense of belonging, thereby preparing students to become thoughtful, inclusive designers who contribute positively to a diverse society. This paper contributes to both academic discourse and practical application, offering actionable insights for educators in the field of architecture and design to implement meaningful change.
