Based on a research essay for a PhD in communication studies, the experimental movie «One Film, Three Visions» opens a variety of interpretations for educational purposes. The research focuses on the role of the cinematographer, but the result offers different paths of study in particular for education of film studies. The essay tries to isolate as much as possible the function of the cinematographer. The three films are equal, but the cinematographer was different in each of the films. This way it was possible to a certain extent analyse the arts and crafts of the cinematographer independently of the director’s instructions and intentions. Afterall the mise-en-scene of the film was equal from one to another of the films, but the cinematographer has given his/her own input taking the narrative to a different direction in each of the three cases. Therefore, «One Film, Three Visions» is a one of many tools possible to study the arts and craft not only for the cinematography angle but also for other departments involved in production. The essay enhances the importance of the individual contribution to a given project and the artistic individually.
