Traditional approaches to teaching organizational development and human talent management often rely on theoretical instruction, limiting students’ ability to apply knowledge in real-world contexts. This study presents an educational experience based on Project-Based Learning (PBL) as an emerging pedagogy to strengthen practical competencies, critical thinking, and decision-making skills in higher education students. The objective was to design and implement a PBL strategy where students developed organizational interventions addressing real or simulated challenges in talent management, including recruitment, performance evaluation, and organizational climate. The methodology followed an experiential learning approach, integrating collaborative work, problem-solving, and continuous feedback. Students worked in multidisciplinary teams, applying analytical tools and evidence-based practices to propose viable solutions. Results show significant improvements in student engagement, autonomy, and the integration of theoretical and practical knowledge. Approximately 85% of participants demonstrated enhanced competencies in problem analysis and strategic thinking, while 78% reported increased confidence in applying human resource management tools. Additionally, the experience fostered soft skills such as communication, leadership, and teamwork. In conclusion, Project-Based Learning proves to be an effective pedagogical approach for bridging the gap between theory and practice in organizational development education. Its implementation promotes active learning environments and prepares students to address complex organizational challenges, contributing to more relevant, applied, and competency-based higher education.
