Abstract

Architecture is a form of solution to the problems that arise in our daily lives. Architecture also exists as a form of pattern for our lives. In fact, architecture is a form of cooperation between humans and their needs. Society has an important role in the process of forming this symbiosis, such as shaping the character of the environment (both individuals and groups), social character that influences people’s behavior, and economic character, as well as influencing the mechanisms of community interaction so as to shape memory and activities. Public space is a result of a form of collaboration or symbiosis between architecture and its environment, where public space is defined as space that is jointly owned, managed, used, and used for the common good. At this time, there are still several public spaces that are experiencing changes in orientation as a result of being consumed by a new time and environmental context. This change in orientation can be caused by changes in activities, land function, and the composition of buildings that form the public space. This can be found on Jalan Kayoon, Genteng District. The orientation of public space was previously formed because of the activity center on the Kalimas River, so that public space was oriented towards the river. The approach taken is architectural symbiosis by combining the character of the old area with the new. These characters are combined and presented again as a form of rhythm that occurs in the Kayoon Area (rhythm analysis method). So the proposed design object is a market commercial space, which is the result of the integration of current market activities with attention to the value or character that will be maintained or brought back. In this way, the design object becomes the result of optimal symbiosis in development and growth in the Kayoon Area.
