This research presents the outcome of the MUSAE scientific research project (Politecnico di Milano, Italy) which focuses on the strong interrelationship between health and food. The project deals with the future of the food domain demonstrating a forward-thinking approach to addressing contemporary social and sustainable challenges while aiming to enhance the well-being of individuals and the planet. Created as part of an art-tech residency using the Design Futures Art-driven method, the project explores how Artificial Intelligence, technology wearables, robotics, and human-machine interaction can revolutionize the food industry and related fields in social sciences, humanities, and medicine. My project within MUSAE focuses on the performance of healthy food chains within big cities by adopting the scenario of a community urban farm. It deals with concepts, methodologies, and technologies to construct an innovative concept of community that aims to empower vulnerable populations by testing different configurations of life, work and farming. What if food can act as a catalyst for societal change and community building? By envisioning an innovative community concept that empowers vulnerable populations through different life, work, and agricultural configurations, I will demonstrate the importance of leveraging collective intelligence for the betterment of society. This aspect of the research showcases a commitment to social impact and community well-being through art and innovative technological solutions within the domestic environment. The goal of the presentation is to discuss the project outcomes, in particular, what new technological solutions could be implemented to respond to the urgent need for alternative food sources and production within big cities.
