Following the video around a Temporary Radio Studio it now appears that sound exists anyway, often in ways that can be broadcast. Places as locations do not have to be in cities or close to a studio. During lockdowns presenters often worked from home. The current problem is how to mix this practice with studio resources. Phonic FM during 2022 will move from FM to DAB with a wider area outside the city. This changes the topics that can be covered. Sound as social media has less constraint on place. Drama and documentary are options. On the radio they can alternate. After several stories the places have their own structure. One example is how continuing building of student accommodation is experienced by some in cities as invasion, a change in the character of the centre. Students see this differently. Streets become a representation of this discussion. Meanwhile education sites are more hybrid, more like a recording studio. Place is a space with meaning for groups of people. This can be a city or remote parts of the countryside, possibly identified as art. Transition to digital and online from FM is only part of the problem situation. DAB is partly a return to broadcast mode. The potential of text links is unknown. The video will include some clips from previously and also examples of radio / visual radio. DAB can include text / suggested web links. This will be explored later in 2022. Previously https://youtu.be/Nh5baJJlZos London / Hatfield W.Pollard
