This session explores the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in learning analytics and its impact on modern education. AI is revolutionizing how data is collected, analyzed, and applied to enhance learning outcomes through personalized learning pathways, predictive insights, and adaptive interventions. By leveraging AI-driven tools, educators can gain real-time feedback, optimize curriculum design, and provide targeted support for students.
The session provides an overview of learning analytics and AI technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and predictive modeling. Case studies highlight successful AI-powered solutions, such as intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning platforms, and AI-driven assessment mechanisms. Ethical considerations surrounding AI in education—such as privacy, bias, and transparency—are also addressed, emphasizing the need for responsible AI implementation. Additionally, the session outlines best practices for integrating AI into learning environments, including strategies for ethical AI use, data security, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Future directions explore emerging trends, such as federated learning, explainable AI, and the potential of AI to support lifelong learning initiatives. This session serves as a resource for educators, researchers, and policymakers interested in harnessing AI to advance learning analytics. By embracing AI responsibly, educational institutions can enhance teaching effectiveness, improve student engagement, and foster inclusive and equitable learning experiences. This session is based on my recent Chapter: Insights Unleashed: Harnessing AI for Learning Analytics. Found in the book: Liebowitz, J. (2025)(ed.), Achieving Digital Transformation Through Analytics and AI, World Scientific Publishing, Singapore/New Jersey.
