Information emerges as a significant component of complex urban systems, especially with the proliferation of data. While information and data play an important role in the functioning of cities, the city assumes a role in distributing information to the public as a result of the inclusion of information as a communication content in the urban landscape. In particular, the inclusion of information in public spaces, which are an important part of the city, ensures that information communication becomes part of the daily encounters of the public. In this way, public spaces are redefined by the information layer they contain. Information communication in cities occurs in various ways, one of which is visual communication of information. Through its visual representation and display in public spaces, information becomes available to the public. The approaches used to incorporate data and information visualization in the public space vary. Therefore, this research aims to reveal the ways in which information and data visualizations become a part of public spaces by employing a structured literature review methodology to systematically examine research in the related field. Overall, this research presents the design space of the field by examining various design considerations such as utilized technologies, provided interactions, communicated topic, and spatial considerations of the existing research.
