Interest in generative AI tools and digital tools has exploded. ChatGPT is considered by many to have the potential to improve teaching, support students learning and reduce workload for both students and teachers. The aim of the study lies on analysis of how use of ChatGPT by students might contribute to the quality of the learning environment and a better fulfillment of the intended learning outcomes (ILOs). Ethnographic study is used in everyday learning situations to describe, discover and understand what is happening in order to create new knowledge in this way (Hammersley, 2019). Through this type of qualitative method and approach, the study will explain students’ use as well as perceived values and challenges to develop critical thinking. Master’s level students was selected as a focus group. The study provides insights how use of ChatGPT redefines the role of the student in educational process through improvement of their own critical thinking and analytical abilities. It supports a better fulfillment of Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) by enabling individual support and enhancement of the learning environment through use of technology.
