The Slavín National Mausoleum Tour offers participants a guided exploration of one of Prague’s most significant historic sites. It engages with themes of memory, identity, and the architecture of commemoration, presenting the mausoleum not only as a burial site for Czech cultural and national elites, but also as a living landscape of evolving societal values. The tour includes commentary on symbolic design, reflections on the socio-political context of its creation and a recent educational project in which students analyzed the site and its history to make proposals for its future expansion.
Delegates interested in joining this tour should sign up with the conference organizer Dr. Jitka Cirklová on any of the first two days of the conference. Dr. Cirklová will provide specific sign-up details at the conference welcome and introduction.
Drinks and dinner at Lucerna Palace will be another informal affair. Located just off the historic Wenceslas Square the Lucerna Palace is a 1930s Art Nouveau shopping arcade boasting a ‘Marble Hall’, a cinema, a café and the Lucerna music venue and pub where we will get together. Delegates can order food and drinks in either the pub or the restaurant. There are also several other places to eat nearby.
Please meet in the Lucerna Hospoda (pub).
Make your own way to the venue. There is no sign-up necessary.
Drinks and food are individually priced.
