Awareness and documentation process of heritage buildings is a well-established field in international context. Nowadays means of their preservation has derived on the basis of documented data and records and even expanded to interconnected modelling techniques. In Karachi, historic building preservation practices are minimal due to limited documented data or archival records. Digital documentation system is comparatively new to local context, hence demanding a new technique. In this study, we primarily seek to implement Heritage digitization phases (HDP) by introducing Building Information Modelling. The methodology is designed to preserve and manage cultural heritage using BIM for the preservation of heritage buildings in Karachi. For example: image-based techniques can gather data using photography, panoramic photography. As built measured drawings preparation can be perform by field visits and using CAD software. The result shows that the digital application of HDP can led to the conception of digital database about the Illaco House building, which was chosen as a case-study for this research. This initiation helps in strengthening the field of building conservation in local context and generate more accessible, sustainable and appropriate techniques of digitized assets as per recognized international practices.
