Jan Kaňák is an assistant professor of social work at the University of West Bohemia and author and co-author of books, chapters, and papers related to spirituality, grief, and the person-in-environment approach (as a basis for professional social work). Concerning the latter, he is involved in exploring sustainability as well as various aspects of the cultural sphere.
Prof. PhDr. Jan Váně, Ph.D., focuses his research attention (primary or applied) on topics in the field of sociology of religion (individualization, intergenerational transmission of religiosity, religious cultural memory, morphing of religious communities); sociology of education (creation and choice of educational strategies both on the side of the actor and the system) and the issue of homelessness and social services provided to the most socially vulnerable groups. It also focuses on social theories emphasizing issues of equity and methodological innovations in research.
