Strand Call: Valuing Local Intellect in Education
–
This theme explores methodologies for generating impactful, contextually relevant knowledge by fully incorporating local and Indigenous intellect.
We invite scholars to share models of participatory action research (PAR), community-based research, and reciprocal learning frameworks that move beyond simply studying communities to actively co-creating knowledge with them. The focus is on the ethical and practical challenges of decentering traditional academic authority, transforming data collection into mutual development, and acknowledging diverse epistemologies.
We seek contributions from academics in specialized educational fields, as well as partners in sociology, public health, environmental science, urban planning, and development studies.
